User Experience, Product and Design
There is no place in this world for ugly software or processes that frustrate users and cause inefficiencies.
We have to have empathy for people because without them, there is no point in a new product, service or a more efficient process.
Why is user experience important?
There is no place in this world for ugly software or processes that frustrate users and cause inefficiencies. We have to have empathy for people because without them, there is no point in a new product, service or a more efficient process.
Carefully crafted & beautiful
We are all able to spot bad design. We can feel it. It frustrates us or annoys us. We can get used to it, but that doesn’t mean that it is right.
When done well, users are a part of the process, the product is carefully crafted and the design is beautiful, we don’t notice it so much.
When done brilliantly, you notice. You notice the moment of joy and wonder of how simple, easy and effortless it is. You notice how fast it is. You notice later on how easy it is to enhance and extend or integrate.
The catalyst to adoption
This is why user experience, product and design is so important. It is the true catalyst to adoption, digital transformation and innovation.
Put people first, the technology second and the rest will follow.
What is the basis for brilliant user experience?
We could list a hundred different tools, techniques and ways to elicit information and research but that wouldn’t really help understand what it actually is. It is a process of understanding and research. It is a process of enablement and observation. It is a process of craft and enlightenment.
How do you achieve a brilliant user experience?
We first understand and then we explore and validate. We go on the shop floor, we take rides in the vans, we watch and observe what people do and what they don’t do.
We have a different perspective and are able to dig down and find out what really goes on and what is really needed.
We get people involved and turn them into advocates. They inspire and then the idea is theirs to propagate.
These practices and tools are infused within all of our practices and are prevalent in discoveries, innovation sprints, data discoveries, and our strategy work. They form the basis of everything we do being people focused technologists.
Put people first, the technology second and the rest will follow.
